"Style is the only thing you can't buy. It's not in a shopping bag, a label, or a price tag. It's something reflected from our soul to the outside world - an emotion"
ALBER ELBAZ

Welcome to my styling guide. If you're visiting this page, it means that you have a session coming up with me, within the not so distant future, now this is incredibly exciting and before we continue on further, I'd love to say Thankyou!

I really cannot wait to capture your session.

Now, I'm guessing that you may be wondering what your session might look like for you and your family in terms of styling and colour tones.

To make it easier for you, I've put together a little something to help you on that journey.

Something that I always share with my clients is that soft earthy + neutral tones are your key to the secret of a beautiful, timeless session.

Throwing in a pop of floral + colour can add something special too. Although, I would usually recommend keeping a pattern or floral to one family member only, if possible.

So, let's talk more about that pop of colour.

With keeping in mind, those warm, earthy tones, you could then introduce a mixture of white, beige, blush pink, rich copper, navy blue + these can all work wonders together, helping to create a beautiful, timeless gallery.

When styling a family, consider who is the pickiest parent in terms of style. Choose their outfit first and work your way through everyone else from there.

It can go without saying that you may already have your heart set on a particular colour or outfit, but are unsure what will work for the rest of the group.

Consider the colour palette + using complimentary tones that work well together. For example, one of you may be wearing white + navy block colours. This would work beautifully with a rust orange, rose pink or beige.

A big tip is to ensure that the colours do not clash and that they compliment one another. Please remember, I am always at hand to guide you through this, please never feel afraid to ask

Let's chat Seasons

The Seasons are naturally going to have a say in not only the temperature, but what we will wear to our session.

Balmy nights during our summer time is a great excuse for bare feet, floaty dresses and bare skin. Little ones always love to rock around in little, if any clothes at all. I love seeing girls in pretty little bloomers + dresses, with boys in a comfy tee + shorts or a cute little romper.

Winter is a great excuse to layer dresses with knits or throw a scarf or beanie on and accessorize.

Whatever the season, remember that children can feel the cold as the sun begins to set, so think of a back up for these moments, it's much better than having to deal with unhappy little ones.

Newborns

Seeing a newborn baby wrapped up in knitted blankets, bloomers + beanies is just the sweetest.

I always recommend fabrics that are soft + comfortable, nothing itchy or too smothering. Think Linen + Cotton.

If you'd like to borrow any of my Newborn Pieces, they include a variety of Blankets, Bloomers + Beanies. They are always at hand to add an extra touch of cuteness.

Another little tip that I'd love to share, is not to over do it on one block colour. For example, the whole group wearing white can create a lighting disaster. With too much light and not enough contrast. Please consider adding in another colour to avoid this from happening.

Above all, my top tip is to feel comfortable in what you're wearing and to feel utterly fabulous.
